Uma Thurman's alleged stalker rejected a deal today to plead guilty to a felony and spend a year in psychiatric treatment.Grad student Jack Jordan put the kibosh on the plea bargain because he doesn't want a criminal record - not because he doesn't want help, his lawyer said.
Jordan, 35, was charged with attempted extortion after he allegedly told the "Pulp Fiction" star he might kill himself if he saw her with another man.
Prosecutors had offered to let him cop to a felony but then withdraw the plea in exchange for a misdemeanor after he finished a year of treatment.
But defense lawyer George Vomvolakis said his client is hoping the judge will toss the felony count, leaving only misdemeanor charges.
If that happens, the lawyer will ask the Manhattan district attorney's office to let Jordan plead to just a violation after treatment.
Jordan, who appeared in court sporting a shaved head and a red hiker's backpack and boots, is an aspiring teacher who was studying in California for a master's degree in literature until he was arrested outside Thurman's home.
He was released from jail two weeks ago when his parents posted $10,000 bail after reading an internet posting about a white inmate who had been stabbed on Rikers Island.
Vomvolakis said the Massachusetts couple had been reluctant to post bail but got "scared," not realizing the stabbing happened in 2003.
